It’s Going To Be A Long One!

It’s Going To Be A Long One!

I was out for a very early morning walk (again, I know – it’s what I do) and I saw a woman fumbling with her keys and she dropped them. I teased her and said, “wake up”! She responded “no kidding”. She chuckled, “it’s going to be a long one”!

It made me think about our attitudes toward our days. We ought to be getting a good night’s sleep and when we rise, our bodies and our minds ideally should be rested and have new found energy to steer our day with optimism.

The very first words that leave our mouths after rest should be positive, upbeat, and optimistic. Those first utterances and attitude truly set the tone for our day.

Have you ever been excited about waiting for news about the results of winning a contest or an award, a refund, being accepted to college, or passing the bar? Do you recall the anticipation of waiting for the news about a job, the close of escrow, or the answer to a marriage proposal?

It’s exciting to have a heart full of life, vivacious and buzzing with enthusiasm and adrenaline. Because of our good cheer, many things that would otherwise bother us, irritate, infuriate, and get on our nerves have dissipated because our eyes and our hearts have bigger and better things in our horizon.

Make a key change today and head toward living a life filled with anticipation. Switch gears and make life easier to maneuver through. Gather a few phrases that make you feel alive and animated. Explore new ways to continue this feeling throughout your day. Model yourself after someone you admire. There are people around us who seem to always be driven by happiness. Take a moment and watch how they navigate through their day.

The great news you had been waiting for all day long comes at night right as you turn the covers back on your bed. You smile, relish in the moment, and feel thankful for all that you have. You breathe deep and thank God for your blessings. As you close your eyes, you will have peace as you sleep, for tomorrow you will receive the rewards of today.

Everyday enjoy people and the moments you have together, let go of your strife and allow God to carry your burdens. Look forward to a simple uncomplicated day.

Put the top down on your convertible or roll down all the windows and let the gentle wind blow away all that obstructs your happiness. Enjoy the beauty of the gift of today. It’s going to be a long f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s one filled with anticipation of joy and peace that you’ll take pleasure in. Have a g-r-e-a-t ride!

Inspired by Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
