A Prayer for the New Year

In the final hours of this year I’m mixed with bitter sweet emotions as I recall many wonderful successes, setbacks that made us stronger, anniversaries of painful losses, exciting new births, challenges for our continued good health and excitement of the unknown that awaits all of us in the days to come. I pray that our hearts beat and live with sincere gratefulness, that we believe we possess hands that are blessed and prepared for charitable service to others, take pleasure in eyes that are not self-serving but rather selfless, desire thoughts that promote peace, and partial to words that will aid and love each other and above all exalt the Lord’s name always! I ask these things for all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

A toast to the many woes and wows of yesterday! It is through those ups and downs that bring us hopeful and capable of much in the New Year! Salude!

Chosing The Right Path

“I told you I would think about changing my life. I just didn’t say when!” “We celebrate for her because she turned her life around. What she did yesterday we will not hold against her today.”

We may miss the everyday opportunities to receive God’s blessings because of procrastination, big egos, or deluded priorities or jealousy. You are in control of the words that part from your lips, the acts performed by your hands, and the experiences that result from your attitude. Speak words that will leave an inheritance, perform acts that are fine and decent, and share an attitude that will leave a legacy worthy of imitation. Jesus came to show us the way. With eyes wide open choose your path.

Play With Your Heart

Play With Your Heart

“You talk like you’re the “albeit” authority! Your confidence stinks!” “I don’t want to argue with you. If you really want to understand what I believe, then let’s spend time talking not debating.”

Debating will not necessarily win over an audience, a heart or a situation. We can’t put the chips on the table before a group and all be a winner. There are some people who need a guarantee of a straight royal flush, and others who feel content and hopeful with simply new cards in their hands. Life should not be approached as a gamble. A spirit filled life possesses many certainties and blessings. Play with a full deck and recognize and use all the hearts in your hand.

The Journey is the Blessing

“Blessings? Yeah, well, I’m still waiting.”

“It’s the small things that make me in awe. Everyday I’m blessed.”

We can snarl impatiently, behave spitefully and be unsympathetically rude waiting for ordinary, good, important and momentous things to happen in our lives. The truth is with a bad attitude we may never receive good service or see those great things we dream. Look closer at how far you’ve come and the many people and circumstances that aided your hardships, happiness and success thus far. God has moved mountains for you and has a beautiful day waiting to reveal His graces on your life. Enjoy the steps that move you forward, the stroke of luck that will take you off course, and the miracle that will seem too crazy to believe. The journey is truly the blessing. The reward, diploma, or finish line is simply the icing on the cake.

Design of the Heart

“Forget it. If everyone doesn’t like my help then I won’t do anything!” “Even though all will not agree, I will do what is right for the masses.”

Although our hearts can be wary of those who do not agree, possess a spirit that is stronger than fear and act on the true design of the heart that performs deeds that help, heal and offer hope.

Afraid? I don't think so!

“There are too many things I’m unsure of. I think I’ll pass.”

“Yes, I will help you. I’ve never done this before, but with your guidance I know I can follow.”

The angel of God told Mary, “Do not be afraid.” The same God sends you a similar message. All that you will encounter, bear, celebrate and experience today comes with assurances from God. He will never give you more than you can bear, He will be with you always, and He wants to bless you each day. Spend time acknowledging God’s presence in your life. The number of occurrences of His presence and blessings are many and far beyond your summation or imagination. LiVe LiKe YoU BeLiEvE!

Working Together

“I want only the best! Drop them from the group. If they can’t keep up that’s their problem!”

“Everyone has a different potential. Let’s work with everyone and see how we can help them advance.”

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” We are blessed to have the words of Jesus to comfort ourselves. Paying it forward by helping others ease their burdens and worries will keep Jesus’ resurrection and hope alive in our everyday lives.

Be The Hope

Be The Hope

“Why bother with him, he’s a lost cause.”

“I can’t turn my back on him. You stay here if you need to, I’m going to find him and try to help.”

It is easy and safe to stay among those who “have got it together.” Granted harder to put yourself out there for the one who is lost, stubborn, and seems unreachable. God never gives up on you, therefore walk with the same conviction. When possible, be the hope for another who is lost and in the dark.

Wise Thoughts Or Foolish Contemplations

“Why should I try? It will never work out for me.”

“God has shown me over and over again what I can accomplish because of Him. I won’t give up or give in. I’m going to see this through.”

If it is the Lord’s will it will come to be. If it is not, our time is not wasted because there is something better in store for us. Good quality time invested today can never be dubbed foolish.

Help myself or others?

“Why would I want to spend time with them, they’re poor, I’m not!”
I wasn’t born with all things right. I know the comfort of having someone nearby, the support of positive words, and assurance of help at hand if I needed it. Let me be there for you.

God crosses the paths of people with similar state of affairs and opposite circumstances so that we might share our varied realities and see the miraculous works of God through our weaknesses and strengths. “I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.”

Believe It Or Not

“I’ll believe it when I see it.” “I believe this will work out in my favor. My faith is greater than your skepticism.”

Jesus had mercy on those who believed in His power of healing. Have faith so great that evil can’t stand a chance at bringing you down.

Do I want guarantees or blessings?

“If you can’t give me any guarantees that it will work out then I won’t have any part of it!” “There’s something about this that gives me peace inside. Although it didn’t work out the way we planned, I’m still happy to have been part of it. Many blessings have come from this experience.”

Even when we give our best our triumphs are not always only realized when we win. Much can be learned, savored and celebrated in matters that have failed on their surface. God shows His great works in the flaws of our days. Be willing to step away from what is safe and really walk the walk.

Do I have eyes that see or deceive?

“I’m not blind! It’s your eyes that deceive you. You live in a fairy tale world!” “Not everybody sees what I see. I know without question that every day in the midst of the good and bad that I encounter, I am blessed and am happy to embrace love, peace and forgiveness.”

When we have different views, contrary values or opinions or when we don’t fight against evil we may seem too docile or mistakenly deemed to look as though we have a dark veil over our eyes. Backing up the underdog and meek and keeping a positive and forgiving attitude are traits of being proactive, optimistic, virtuous and upright. Every day we have an opportunity to let love win! Enjoy the day’s triumphs!

Thankful or Ungrateful

“Why should I thank him? It’s his job!” “I am very grateful that you took the time to help when you have so many others to attend to. Thank you.”

Great blessings seem to follow us when we remain humble, respectful, and thankful. Everyday Jesus offers us healing, hope and peace. Increase your faith so that your eyes may know a blessing when they see it!

Give your faith an eye examination so that your judgment will not be impaired. Spend quality time improving your foresight and forethought so that what your eyes see, what your mind thinks and what comes from your mouth may make good sense and prove wise.

Mindful or Mindless

“I’ve got too much going on to take time out to visit some lonely relative. Find someone else to do your charity work!”
“I know I’m busy, but I still try to make time for others. I can’t imagine what my life would be like if God thought he was too busy for me.”

Staying physically active is good for the body, mentally occupied beneficial for our well mental health, and spiritually alert and devoted for the sake of our blessed eternity. Set priorities that prepare you to stand before the Son of Man.

Thankful or Callous

I am thankful that she didn’t show up. She ruins everything!” “I am thankful that we could all be together. Our family is proof that nothing should divide us. May the love of God always be in your hearts.”

If we hold grudges, grudges will be held against us. If we know forgiveness, forgiveness will be what’s granted us. When we see a loved one who has been ill and near death we know from our faith what is to come. With our greatest faith on our faces and works of our hands and mouths let us show God we want what he offers us and are expecting new life and a place in His Kingdom.

Harmony or Friction

“I can’t do that! I wouldn’t know what to say!” “I know in my heart what needs to be said. The rights words will come.”

Our circumstances sometimes meet us feeling inadequate, unprepared or dumbfounded by surprise.

Compose a song in your heart that communicates love and passion. Be the human instrument that connects people in harmony. Train your ears and hands to offer an unmeasured song of assistance to individuals and families that need help. Be selfless so that your lively and uninhibited beat might comfort your neighbors who live with pain or troubles.

Your crescendos of faith, synchronized charismatic pattern in your words, and symphonic works of your hands are the song that makes God’s gifts to us come to life and leave us feeling skilled and able.

Making Time for Moments That Count

“I’ve got time. I’m in no rush to pay a visit.” “Time is precious. Let’s enjoy our time together.”

Am I restrained, kind or generous?

“Give you a dollar? Look guy, you might think about getting a job!” “I can’t take that. You were going to buy bread and milk for your family.”

How do we give when we are asked or see a need? How do we feel when we don’t have enough for our families?

It’s easy to give out of our abundance. It’s benevolent to give out of our rations. God knows out of what part of our heart we give, then He rewards us accordingly. Reach into the most generous part of your being and reap blessed rewards.

Am I open minded, crazy, ignorant or filled with God’s spirit?

“You want me to believe in something I’ve never seen much less have had first-hand experience in. You’re as crazy as your mother!” “Your great faith has brought you this far. God is present among us. He will continue to bless us in this life and in Heaven.”
Living in the human realm causes us to be cynical, require proof of extraordinary reality, or reasoning that offers guarantees. God provides more that we can offer each other. Live seeking out what is beyond society’s limiting regulations, the mind’s disparaging rationale and selfish motivation that is crippling. God is of the living. Chose to live and immerse yourself in His goodness.

An Attitude Adjustment? Me?

An attitude adjustment? Me?

“How dare they tell me that my behavior was out of line! I can say and behave any way I want to!”

“Thank you all for keeping the spirit of this gathering openly solemn, filled with heartfelt prayer, and with the upmost earnest humility. I believe God is among us and will bless you.”

Selfish-conduct holds no divine rewards. Respectable behavior, a good moral attitude, and a virtuous spirit have no trouble finding a place to be among people. Practice your good morals, principles and values. We were meant to bring love and peace to each other.

Do I give freely or with expectation?

“She kisses up to her by doing things for her all the time. I’m her daughter, I’ll get everything when she dies!”

“I want you to have this. You have done so much for me.”

The wise in faith and the one who holds riches of the heart knows who is genuine and will decide whom they wish to give gifts.

Nothing comes to those who give not. Little is received by who little is given. Abundance comes to those who are selfless. Live selflessly in faith, love and compassion and receive more in your heart and spirit than you ever imagined.

Why should I give you another chance?

“She will never change! Why waste your time!” “Everyone deserves another chance to make things right. I believe in you. Let’s you and I try this again.”

Through ignorance, frustration and repetition we may develop spiteful tunnel vision. Incalculable times through our lives the Lord will forgive us our trespasses, mistakes and ignorance.

Rather than reject your most challenging situation, use it to transform you. Develop that part of your heart that knows mercy, kindness and forgiveness. Jesus came to save the lost. Will He find salvation in your house when he comes?

Praying to God for simple or impossible matters keeps hope and faith alive for the human race. Everyday God puts us all in positions to assist Him in answering pleas, cries, petitions and prayers. Will you be part of His granting justice or when Jesus comes will He pass on you?

Can I Be Satisified As I Am Today?

“Both our names were on the project. I deserve half that bonus! She did more work because she wanted to!” “He’s my brother, there’s no need for a lawsuit, give him Dad’s house. I am content without property, humbled without a heap of money, and my heart is filled with joy over the simple blessings I receive everyday from God.”

Being confident and having trust in God is sometimes not easy. We may be tempted to think that treasures of money, property or status might restore or elevate our lives, heal a broken spirit, or make living less problematic.

As you go through your journey be satisfied with where you are as you walk, make good on promises and forgive where you can, acknowledge and help strangers, and keep valued friendships in a constant state of repair. Our lives will end without notice, treasures will not matter, and there will be no time to go back and fix a single affair. God will take His chosen people, work to be among them.

My Spirit Is As It Should Be

My Spirit Is As It Should Be

“My life sucks! When will things turn around?” “My life may not be the way I planned it, but there is so much I thank God for everyday.”

We can get caught up in technicalities of heated conversations, wearisome relationships, frustrating job situations or less than scholar performances in school.

Look deeper than the human mechanics of the workings in your life for motivation.

God’s blessings are evident even when your strength has weakened, when your “will” has gone “wishy washy” and moral fiber is being challenged with a less than progressive day.

The world will keep churning at its own challenging pace. You, however, can choose to roll with a grateful and peaceful outlook that will keep your spirit intact.

Try harder? Why Should I?

Try harder? Why should I?

Sometimes unbeknownst to us we’re told we’ve given less in a relationship, slacked at our job, or our grades reveal we’ve given less in our studies.

Rather than stewing over the unwelcomed news of yesterday, we can continue today to give more in relationships, offer our unwavering best to our employer, and stay consistent in steady habits to our increase education.

At the end of the day it is the love we bring to a relationship, our best work ethic and time we invest in ourselves that will shine in the eyes of God.

As for the blind and sinister of the world, they will have to catch up or miss the great works and efforts of the acts of good people. What we do today helps us transition from the passage of this life to the next.

Why I Should Forgive?

Why should I forgive?

“’I’m sorry’ doesn’t work anymore. I’m done.” “Why do you keep forgiving him?” “Because the Lord keeps on forgiving me.”

Repetitive offenses may wear us down, may seem senseless and outright abusive. We may find that we must remove ourselves from a particular situation, dramatically change the course of our lives, or even wonder if we should re-examine our own ways. However, in the course of such scrutiny, offenses, aggravations and changes we must always forgive. Be on your guard, if you think you cannot forgive, then be prepared for the Lord to do the same unto you.

Jesus got thru His dark Friday believing the best was yet to come. Find optimism in your disappointments, they will soon reveal God’s greatest triumphs for you!

Make Love Stick

“He loves me. He loves me not . . .” “Hearing the words ‘I love you’ warms my heart. But He shows me his love. For me, that’s enough.”

Actions speak louder than words. Enjoy doing for others expecting nothing in return. And when foolish mistakes slip through the cracks pour on the goo with a sincere heart. If love doesn’t stick, pour on some more!

The Precious Things of Your Heart

“Wow, you’re a legend! What is fame like?” “Mommy, what is Heaven like?”

We will be tempted to idolize, drawn to praise, and even be sucked into glitz and glamour of the life of lumimaries. Will narrow vision cause you to pass on your blessings, inadvertently dismiss your graces, or intentionally discharge your mercies? God is interested in the precious things of your heart. Today what will you show Him?

Inspired by Luke 13:18-19

Stepping Stones To The Best Life

“I have to invite her. Otherwise, she may not invite me to her party.” “I want to thank my specials friends for being here. You humbly remind me that I don’t have to have my limbs, my eyes or even money to be a good friend. I love you.”

We exist in different shapes, sizes, economic backgrounds, status, and temperaments. What we do for the least of our brothers and sisters will be rewarded when we are long from this earth. Walk on the stepping stones that will lead you to your best life to come.

Inspired by Luke 14:12-14

The Tide Of Blessings

“This sucks. They should have given me a bonus too! I showed up at least one time!” “We wish to show our appreciation for those who went beyond the call of duty. Please step forward.”

Each day offers endless opportunities to be on the blessings side of life. When you give unselfishly from the heart the tide of blessings seem to keep coming to your shore.

Let It Be You

“Really, you’re going to make a big deal because she finally did something right. What about the times she screwed everything up!” “If I can help just one lost person, then all the effort I’ll ever put forth will be worth it.”

The lost, hurting, lonely, unwanted and sinners need someone to reach out them to set their path straight. Let it be you.

Inspired by Luke 15:1-10

I Have Repaid All And Then Some

I Have Repaid All And Then Some

“Although you were exposed of a wrongdoing, you still continued to deceive me!” “I will be honest, I did not do the right thing. But I have repaid all and then some.”

Rather than being caught with your hand in the cookie jar snatching what’s not yours, fill the jar with goodies and let others know they are there for their pleasure. Giving is a virtuous characteristic.

I'm Here To Do God's Will

“Make a decision, its me or her!” “I don’t believe I’m here to serve the nervy, audacious and forward wishes of others. Both of you can join me with peace in your heart or you can stay here and fight amongst yourselves. I’m here to do God’s will.”

Sometimes we are cornered into making decisions that seem to back us up against a wall. We shouldn’t be afraid to be rejected by each other in the face of a righteous decision. God’s will is always right. Do your best to stand up to pressure that doesn’t have goodness running through its veins, compassion on its limbs, and kindness in its heart.

Someone else's view may make you question your own. The World Depends On Your Offerings

“I know I know this! But I’m not prepared to do it in front of people!” “I have confidence in who I am, faith in what I believe, and have assurance in the knowledge I possess. Of course, I will do this for you.”

There are times we are caught off guard with seemingly no time for preparation. Work on being prepared spiritually, mentally and physically for these wonderful surprises. There is so much joy to be felt, hope to offer, and love to bestow on others. The future of the world depends on your offerings today.

Serve Needs Greater Than Yours

“Share with your brother!” “No! Grandma gave this to me!” “Thank you for sharing. There will be more for you when I receive my share.”

Be Well Primed or Walk Away

“So what if its wrong. I’ll ask forgiveness tomorrow.” “It’s not right. I can’t do that in good conscience.”

Sometimes spontaneity in life is fun, adventurous and exciting! If you are not well primed, then in the midst of the thrill weigh its measure of decency, respectability and honor to God. Walk away from the crowd with confidence if in your heart you do not feel assured.

Inspired by Luke 11:29-32

Lead By Example

“That is cruel! I’m going to wash your mouth out with soap!” “I’m sorry that sounded harsh. Give me an opportunity to rephrase that. It was not my intent to be unkind.”

Good Returns Over and Over

“What is all this “give thanks to God” stuff. I did all the work.” “I believe God put people in my path to make these wonderful things happen. I am so happy I did my little part.”

We are urged to not get hung up on technicalities, nit pick our methods, or the way we process through the course of our lives. What matters is that we give our best effort in all that we do. The difference we make in another’s life is a clearer window into our heart.

Be Confident In Who You Are

I don’t have to defend myself! I said I don’t want to talk about it!” “I’m happy that you asked. I took much into consideration. I believe I’ve made a decision that is right and just."

What we think in the privacy of our minds and homes will eventually slip out in our words, show in our attitudes and confirmed in our behavior. Be confident in who you are. Many around you may miss it, but God sees all.

“So what if he gave those people food to eat. He has no consideration for neighbors, his trees hang over the wall on to my property!” “Those things don’t bother me. What she does for others every day is what touches my heart."

Give your internal intuition a break and a refreshing gift. Today inspire energy, optimism, confidence and a "can do" attitude. Experience happy butterflies, the warm and fuzzies and peace within.

Celebrate Your Progress

We are our own worst enemy. We are our own best ally. Be a good friend to yourself, quick to forgive a step backward, swift to recover and move forward and instantaneous at celebrating your progress. Today is going to be a great day!

Stand Up To Injustice

"I'm not going against the crowd. I'm going to do what they're doing!" "All of you need to stop. He's right. We are being unfair."

Making a stand against injustice is on its face difficult. The reward is the broken heart you spare, the spirit you save, and the positive change that you are a part of. Change the world one good deed at a time.

Inspired by Luke 9:46-48

The Heart Knows

"I'll go to my grave before I speak to that man again!" "It doesn't feel good when were not talking. Let's talk so that we really understand where we went wrong."

On occasion we can agree to disagree. At times have an intelligent discussion. When it's important enough we must stand our ground. Your heart always knows which is right.

Inspired by Luke 9:57-62

Write Your Masterpiece

"They deserve more than a slap on the wrist. They destroyed all your work!" "They did me a favor. My next round is going to be better than the last!"

Humans can hinder progress with flat notes of jealousy, anger and resentment. It may not be worth the time spent to try to change their tune. Spend your valuable time where it counts. You have a beautiful life, your masterpiece to write. Plan on . . . one happy noted at a time.

The Most Virtuous of All Morals and Values

Rash decision or not, I’m standing by mine. But I am curious about what others are doing.” My decision may not be the best. I will listen. I’m not too proud to change and do the right thing.”

Even the strongest of rulers who killed people to stay in control was curious about Jesus and sought Him out. When you are tempted to be sway always consider the most virtuous of all morals and values. Then go where your spirit leads you.

For Those Who Have, More Will Be Given

"Yeah, I had a good break. And then everything fell apart. Life sucks!" "Life was good then things changed unexpectedly. I'm not fretting, God has something greater in store for me."

Sharing our feelings about what God has done in our life shows traits of a faithful follower. Believing that greater things are in store when life seems dark is a great disciple. Share the great light in you with others. For those who have, more will be given!

Inspired by Luke 8:16-18

We Can Do the "Will of God"

"I can't believe you are my child. You disappoint me!" "You can choose to do what you will. But I pray that together we can do "the will of God."

Jesus showed us that our best acquaintances and family are those who do the "will of God." Surround yourself with those whom you admire. It's probable that they are God's light on earth for you.

"I won't pay until they sue me. Let's see how far they'll go." "I know that it was my fault. I"ll do whatever it takes to make it right."

Whether we admit our wrongs out loud or not, God knows the truth. On earth God gave us Jesus Christ so that we may know right from wrong and we can choose to repay another accordingly. Spirtually God can forgive and a debt can be repaid with a simple prayer and a sincere heart.

A Blessed Transformation

“A year was enough. I can’t stand to be married to him anymore.” “We work together to find the middle ground and at the end of the day we’ve served each other as best we could."

Before you say “I do,” be sure you are willing to not live for “self.” If your already invested, but for the wrong reason, pray for YOUR OWN blessed transformation. With God all things are possible.

Inspired by Matthew 19:3-11

Love and Service To Others

“I don’t need you. I have a car, a job and a life.” “I am happier living frugally and so grateful for the people in my life.

Inspired by John 12:24-26

Material things can’t give what sustains the heart. Turn your ambitious energy to success and wealth in love and service to others.

Forgive and Inspire Peace

“I’m only forgiving you because you are my brother.” “It’s sometimes very hard to forgive my brother, but I do. Jesus forgives me every day.

Over and over again, it seems some people keep making the same stupid mistakes, nasty remarks, unashamed blunders. Those people one day will suffer the repercussions of their actions. It is not for us to hold sins against them, but rather to forgive and inspire peace.

Inspired by Matthew 18:21-22

The Wealth of Our Spirit

“I don’t care who I step on. I want what I want!” “I’m living today with a heart that feels blessed. Anything else is icing on the cake.”

We can get caught up on material things and think we couldn’t do without. The Lord has made us humans in Jesus’ glorious image. Let us become intimate with all that God has created so that we may truly enjoy our beauty inside and the wealth of our spirit. Inspired by Luke 1:46-55

I Want To Help

“Why did he receive more money than me? You shouldn’t treat us different.” “Thank you. What you’ve given me is a blessing.”

Money can bring out the greed in human nature. Just as God gives us all different gifts at different times, so we too can bless anther as our heart sees a need or desires to be generous.

Inspired by Matthew 20:1-16
“I’m not wearing that stupid shirt. I’d rather not work there.” “The shirt was not my favorite color (haha), but I wore it anyway. Who knew the boss would give a huge bonus to all who participated!”

God’s graces and gifts reveal themselves in the most unique and unusual situations. Don’t pass on your blessings!

Inspired by Matthew 22:1-2, 8-14

Little Things Matter

“Why pray for you? You’ll never change.” “I pray each night that you’ll recognize God’s gifts to you. You are a gift to me and I love you.”

Inspired by 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5, 8

We have all performed works of faith, labors of love and felt steadfast hope. Acknowledge the little things in one another for they can be equally great to a little one or the masses.

I Am A Victor

I Am A Victor

“How can I be happy? Nothing is going my way!” Or:

It may have been the worst of times, but I never lost faith! And as usual God made me a victor!

Through good, bad or indifferent times know that God is with you. He sent His Son to show you that when the earth crumbles beneath you, Jesus will carry you to solid ground if you let Him.

Good Works Say It All

Good Works Say It All

Will it be: “I don’t care that he’s doing good, I don’t like his looks.” Or: “Look at what he’s done for people. He may not be popular but he is a gift from God.”

Be a good teacher, mentor and above all a faithful follower of Christ. Your good works will say more about you than your looks, social status or other’s opinions.

Hands of Love

Hands of Love

Jesus washed the feet of the apostles setting an example of service. With your able hands go in love to serve the Lord and one another. Your reward will be in a thankful tear, heartfelt smile, and a lifted spirit.

Do The Right Thing

“I really don’t care that you went to any trouble for me. It’s not what I wanted.”

"I am grateful and sincerely appreciate you trying to help me. I pray that I will do the right thing. Thank you."

Love is designed to be absorbed in our hearts and become the life that fills our veins. Rejoice at the sight of helping hands so that love’s sentiment will live in you and you will want to it pay forward again and again.

Above Pessimism

“I hate talking to you. All you every do is put me down.”

“I can always count on you to make me feel better.”

Offer hope instead of despair, speak of blessings rather than complaining, advocate healing instead of feeding sickness, offer help instead of throwing up your hands. You were born for greatness. Show the world you are above pessimism.

Inspired by Isaiah 61:1-3

Offer hope instead of despair, speak of blessings rather than complaining, advocate healing instead of feeding sickness, offer help instead of throwing up your hands. You were born for greatness. Show the world you are above pessimism.

An On Time God

“You do everything for her! I hate you!”

“If it were within my power I would help you.”

Inspired by Matthew 20:20-23

Jesus showed us that there were things He could do and things only His Father could grant. Learn to help yourself, pray for things that seem humanly unattainable, and accept with great faith what God appears to be doing or not. God is great and always on-time.

Goodness Shines

“They’ll get over it. I’m doing this anyway.”

“I keep myself in check by asking ‘if today were my last would I want to do that which keeps me from eternity?'”

Furnace of fire or shine like the sun. Well. . . when you put it like that . . . the sun? Choose to gleam like the sun! Let your goodness outshine any other “ness”.

Enjoy Today's Treasures

“I want a fancy car, a mansion on a hill, and a bank account that overflows with money!”

“You’d think I’d be depressed with the loss of my legs, but something inside me feels new and whole. All the more I treasure the love of family, friends and thing that I still have.”

The luxuries and catastrophes of life both offer great value & different emotional challenges. Joy & gratefulness are best enjoyed when we really value them. Enjoy the treasures you already have today!

Inspired by Matthew 13:44

Plan, Pray and Practice

“What do you want from me? I’m so tired of having to pull you along.”

“This overwhelming feeling of anxiety will pass. Give me a few minutes so that I can regroup.”

We all have patience that can lose its tolerance for others. We are humans, but can be more. Plan, pray and practice. Expect your day to be full of staying power! With an occasional time out & a conscious effort you can be more.
Inspired by Matthew 13:47-53

Honor God's Angels

Where does he get off telling us what is right or wrong. He didn’t even graduate from high school.”

“You’re a stranger but you are God sent and so wise. I can’t believe you’ve never been told these things.”

The wise and gifted are often overlooked, dismissed or putdown in their own circles. Look around you, there are holy people who stand out among the crowd. Honor God’s angels. Even better aspire 2 be one!
Inspired by Matthew 13:54-58

Straight Forward

But you deceived them. Don’t you feel the least bit of remorse?

“With you, no one has to ask. Your sincerity is evident in all that you do.”

Our thoughts, plans and behavior should not be two faced or harmful. Be straight forward about who you. Dishonest or esteemed. If even a word were not spoken, show others who you are by the way you move through life.

Inspired by Matthew 15:1-2, 10-14

God Keeps On Giving

“I don’t owe anybody anything. I did this all by myself!”
“Through God’s grace I breathe, grow and love. I thank God every day for my blessings!”

God gave you life. God gave you the breaks. God continues to give. Give a shout out to to the Lord! He is so good!

Inspired by Psalm 95:1-2,6

Be Someone To Follow

I don’t know why I put up with you. You bring out worst in me!”

"I love you as best I can. I do not regret a day I spend doing that.”

Relationships, jobs, and school will all have days of highs and lows. Move through life with love in your heart so that no day is wasted. Your walk today will leave footprints in the sand. Be someone to follow!

Inspired by Matthew 16:24-28

Pay It Forward

Why are you trying to help him? He doesn’t even want to help himself.”
“If I can touch someone’s hurting heart, it will be worth my while.”

Jesus taught us that time spent trying to help a lost sheep, a confused spirit, or a saddened soul is one of the greatest things we could ever do for each other. He does it for us every day. Pay it forward.
Inspired by Matthew 18:1-5, 10, 12-14

Around the Corner

“I want this so bad! But everything I do gets me further and further away from it!”

“I’m not discouraged when I keep hitting block walls. I know there is something better around the corner.”

What we want today may be insignificant compared to the gift of God tomorrow. Have confidence knowing something greater than our own plans is in the works.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

FOLLOW THE YELL BRICK ROAD, OH MY! Courage, heart, brains & getting back hometo where one feels safe were the themes of Wizard of Oz. Perhaps your shoes are not red with glitter. But stand still, in the quiet, in your bare feet, flip flops, vans, uggs, or toms and click your heels together and pray, pray, pray for what you need. You’ll find God has already given you courage, a heart, brains and a family. He also gave you something to look forward to. “Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high . . .”

Mom, Will You Remember Me?

“Goodbye Mom,” I said with a wrenched heart and salty puddles in my eyes. From the illness she didn’t know me anymore. But . . . she squeezed my hand as if to say goodbye.

I couldn’t look back, I couldn’t go back. It was as if something inside of me had died. How can a person still be breathing, living and forget their life? How could a mother not know her own child?

I could hardly swallow, my eyes felt like they were swollen shut, and my heart was bruised from a dark truth too unfeasible to believe.

Was there anything more that I could have done to stay connected to her? Wasn’t there something I could have said that would have made her remember me?

One moment I saw a blank stare, the next I was the brunt of a stranger’s anger. It was as if her kind spirit had already left her. Even though I had painstakingly bathed her, artfully yet labored to cloth her, and sometimes hastily or patiently fed her I was still an unfamiliar person.

Every day I have questioned myself “I was a good child, wasn’t I? Did I care for my mother as best I could through her illness? She knew that I loved her, didn’t she?"

God you knew I did what I could until it was physically impossible. I loved her even when I lost all patience. But even now, as I look back, I hold on to regrets and still pray as I do now asking You for forgiveness for not doing more. Could I have done more?

From here, in this quiet place, I pray for you mom. It hurts so much to know where you are. How much could you be suffering. How lonely and lost are you without a familiar living soul to comfort you? I pray that in a clear cohesive moment you will remember Christ one more time and recall that you believed that you will have eternal life. Yet selfishly, in one of those cohesive moments I wonder, "Will you remember me?"

Dear Lord, I think my heart stopped when I received the call. In one moment my dim days turned to blackness. My mom was no longer here with me to touch, to love, to hug. I’ve never felt so self-condemned, beaten and lonely. More than ever I pray to you Lord, seeking comfort in my time of sorrow.

Only you know when my grief will leave me. It could be years . . . or perhaps never -- in my lifetime. With reverence now, I pray for forgiveness for all the yesterdays that I lost hope, all the tomorrows that I may doubt my faith, and for this weak moment. Please release me from all the anger that may well up inside when I am feeling lonely, depressed and cheated. Please forgive me and help me now.

I know you created me and my mother in love. I saw the gifts you gave her and those that she shared with others. I look at my hands and wonder what part of her is in me. I witnessed her touch other’s lives.

Help me to one day begin to heal, to live again and to gladly serve others as I know my mother did. Give me the ability to be wholeheartedly charitable, feed me words of compassion, and open up windows of time that will allow me to seek and see your Goodness! I ask for these little things, for they are just nibblets of what you have done for a world filled with selfish and selfless people.

I can’t imagine what you must have felt Lord when your Son suffered through His brief teaching life and in his last days and on the cross. All I know is what I feel through my own loss. What I do hold in my heart, however, is the hope that your Son left behind. With that hope I grasps with both hands and hold on tight.

It seems we all have crosses to bear. And this thought still leaves me with a host of questions. How can I bear something that seems beyond me? How can I recover from the darkest time in my life? How can I go on?

As life takes twists and turns, I know I will always revert back to hope and faith. I know you didn’t promise that it would be easy. You didn’t say that we would like it. What you did promise is to be a God of mercy and love. In my darkess I struggle to know your mercy . . . and to receive that promise of love.

After time . . .

There were times I felt as though I could not make it through. And in the morning I always woke to one of your glorious sunrises. In that morning light I always saw the calm after the storm. I will keep my eyes set on that great light.

Thank you Lord for the graces in my life, the people you’ve put here to touch me and for your Son who gives me hope and inspiration to go on.

Amen.

P.S. Mom,you always remembered me. And I am happy for the time we had.

Inspired by Matthew 9:32-38

We Give, We Receive

“I don’t like being around him. He does not have a forgiving bone in his body.” “You are dear to me. Please accept my apology. I ask for your forgiveness.”

Jesus explained a simple truth, “what we give, we will receive.” Kindness and pardon are built into our hearts. Together let us enjoy the gifts of God.
Inspired by Matthew 11:20-24

For The Win

“You don’t understand, losing isn’t an option!”

A Secret Aid

Inspired by Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

Faith Before Foolishness

“Have you any idea how ludicrous you sound?” “I know what is right. And now I have to act on it.”

Inspired by Matthew 7:24-27

Does it really take another person to point out the obvious? You will always be lead to where you need to go when you put faith before foolishness and haste. With honesty search your heart, soul and conscience.

A Great Plan For You

“I don’t know why he got the promotion. I deserved it more.” “I use the gifts God has given me every day. The rest is ‘His will.’”

Our plans, desires, and time table for our lives are not always the way life will play out. Go with change, use your gifts, and have hope in the face of gloom. God has a great plan for you!

Inspired by Matthew 6:7-15

Love Without Boundries

Share What You Have

Share What You Have

“He lives high on the hog and wants to be esteemed but has no respect or generosity toward anyone.” “She lives in poverty, but she gives more than anyone I know.”

Jesus challenges us to let go of self-centered behavior. We don’t have to give another our last dollar. Rather, the challenge is simply to share what we have with another in need.

Inspired by Mark 10:23-27

Your True Colors

Love & Enjoy Eternal Life

Love & Enjoy
Love & Enjoy Eternal Life
Relationships with spouses, family, friends and chance meetings with strangers need your attention & tender loving care. Take time to show others they matter. When we love one another we show God that what His Son did for us matters. Love today and enjoy eternal life!
Inspired by John 3:16-17
Jesus said to Nicodemus, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

A Nourished Mind and Body

A Nourished Mind and Body
“What a rotten attitude. Doesn’t she see any good in anyone or anything?” Or: “You don’t curse or speak badly of anyone. I love being around you!”
What you feed your body determines how it will respond for you. What you feed your soul will affect the world around you! We’re in God’s world! Nourish yourself accordingly.
Inspired by John 6:52-57
The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me.

My Inheritance

My Inheritance
“Heartless? You haven’t seen anything yet!  I’m pissed!” Or: “No, it’s not right, the things that he does. But it is best to “love” him rather than to assault him with words.
Behavior is passed down and inherited through generations. Give and be your best so your joy may be complete and your heirs will be blessed.
Inspired by John 15:9-11
Jesus said to his disciples, “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

A Prize Bouquet

A Prize Bouquet
“Why would the flowers grow? You don’t feed, water or prune them!” “I’ve lost hope and self confidence. Truly, my faith is shaken.”
To enjoy a strong faith or see anything grow attention must be paid and time must be invested.
Live as Jesus taught so that you have plenty of water and food for your roots. The result: A prize winning fragrant bouquet every time!
Inspired by John 15:1-8
Jesus said to his disciples, ‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-grower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.

I Know Peace

 I Know Peace
“If I were you, I would be very afraid.” “I don’t know why but I am at peace. There’s something inside of me that says, “Don’t worry.”
The vision of people can be limited and hazy. When we are open to receive the peace of Christ, our worries and troubles will be lighter on our hearts. Trust in Christ and get to know Him so that you will recognize His peace when it touches you.
 Inspired by John 14:27
Jesus said to his disciples, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”

A Healthy Spirit

A Healthy Spirit

“When I hear her voice I get a sinking feeling in my stomach.” “There’s something about his voice that brings joy to my heart!”
The child in Elizabeth’s womb leap for joy at the sound of Mary’s voice. Use your keen sense to know who is healthy for your spirit. Start each day in prayer and find your joy!
Inspired by Luke 1:39-47

A "Knock Out!"

A "Knock Out!"

“You’ve got the faith of a scared rat! Grow some muscle man!”
“Her faith is never shaken. She seems to be at peace with something I don’t understand.
People don’t always have the best responses to our tough situations or our gloomy feelings. God, however, is a champion of love and is in your corner. Stick with him “kid”, your life will be a “knock out!”
Inspired by John 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you, the things that are to come. He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

A Sweet Spirit

A Sweet Spirit

“So you helped me. You’re still on my B-list of friends.” “What do you want me to say! You are too much work.”

Make all that comes from your mouth drip with sweet kindnesses and the good and gracious spirit of God.

Inspired by 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Now I should remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you – unless you have come to believe in vain. For I handed on to you as of first importance which I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to someone untimely born, he appeared also to me.

Its God Truth

Its God’s Truth

We pray for heavenly things at birth, confirmation, times of illness and death. However, we have precious moments throughout our day to be mindful of our everyday blessings that are not of this earth. On this day of National Prayer and well as everyday of your life, step away from the noise of the world and with divine purpose move into the treasure of silence and accept the reward of God’s truth. In that quiet place heavenly things will be revealed and your lips with speak with divine aspirations.

Inspired by John 3:31-34

John the Baptist said to his disciples, “The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true. He whom God has sent speaks the words of God.”

Showing Up

Showing Up

“I really don’t care about this walk-a-thon nor its cause; I came because they’re giving away awesome gifts.”

“Showing up” should come from a place deep within a serviceable heart. The gifts of service are ones that imitate of God’s love and endure forever!

Inspired by John 6:30-35

The next day the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the lake saw that there had been only one boat there. They also saw that Jesus had not got into the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone. Then some boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus. When they found him on the other side of the lake, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you are filled of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.

Give and Receive

Give and Receive

“Through her smile she gave me hope.” “She gave birth to a beautiful baby boy!”

There are many instances in life that provide opportunities to give and receive God’s love. Jesus is the bread of life. Receive your share. And with gratefulness for your blessed existence, give to others unselfishly.

Inspired by John 6:30-35

The crowd said to Jesus, “What sign are you going to give us then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” Then Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gave you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

A Better Friend

A Better Friend

“Who taught you that? I think you’d better find a better friend.”

Spend time with God and imitate Jesus everyday so that when the temptation to behave otherwise is more easily dismissed. Be influenced by the best and you will be a “better friend.”

Inspired by John 6:45-51

Jesus said to the people: “It is written in the prophets: ‘And they shall all be taught by God’; everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that come down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

They Can't Take That Away From Me

They Can't Take That Away From Me

“Their words won’t break me. What I have in my heart, no one can take from me.”

Stand up to negativity with decisive faithfulness so that you may enjoy the blessings of God’s plan for your life. God’s showed us His greatness through Jesus. When you believe, there is no greater power!

Inspired by John 10:22-30 (use your bible or search online for scripture)

This Little Light of Mine

This Little Light of Mine

“I didn’t get to tell him how wonderful he was. It’s too late now, he’s gone.”

You know someone who is truly extraordinary. Tell them today in your special way that they are a light in the/your world.

God gave us Jesus, our light in the world. Know that “You are special to Him!”

Inspired by John 12:44-50

Then Jesus cried aloud: “Whoever believes in me believes not in me but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness. I do not judge anyone who hears my words and does not keep them, for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. The one who rejects me and does not receive my word has a judge; on the last day the word that I have spoken will serve as judge, for I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I speak, therefore, I speak just as the Father has told me.”

The Best That We've Got

The Best Taht We've Got

"You said you'd do anything for me.  But you stood there and said nothing."  "You said I could trust you, but everything you do says the opposite."

Peter the apostle said, "I will lay down my life for you."  Jesus knew Peter would deny Him three times, yet Peter was exalted in the church.  Through Jesus - God offers us enternity.  He only asks that we give Him the best that we've got.  Believe in yourself.  God believes in You!

Inspired by John 13:31-33, 36-38.

When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in himself and will glorify him at once.  Little children, I am with you only a little longer.  You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.'"  Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?"  Jesus answered, ":Where I am going, you cannot follow me now; but you will follow afterwards."  Peter said to him, "Lord, why can I not follow you now?  I will lay down my life for you."  Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me?  Very truly, I tell you, before the cock crows, you will have denied me three times."

In Good Spirit

In Good Spirit

Will it be: “Why did you give your belongings to him? I could have used them.” Or: “I am glad you found someone who could use your things. What a blessing that must have been for him.”

Give from the heart, receive with gratefulness & always be happy for another’s blessings. One day we may be in need and in this distressing time we hope that others will be good spirited over our gifts.

Inspired by John 12:1-6

Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him. Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him) said, “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” (He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.)

I Will Rise Above It All

I Will Rise Above It All

Will it be:  "I'm so disgusted with my life.  I don't know what I believe anymore."  Or: My life may seem dire, but there is a light inside me that says, "Today I will rise above it all.'  I don't worry.  I'm content."

God glorified Jesus so that you may know Him.  Enrich your relationship with the One who knows what you go through  and what you need.  Living with a joyful  heart will get you through today's troubles.

Inspired by John 8:54-59

Jesus said to the Jews,"If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing, it is my Father who glorifies me, he of whom you say, 'He is our God,' though  you do not know him.  But I know him; if I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you.  But I do know him and I keep his words.  Your ancestor Abraham rejoicd that he would see my day; he saw it and was glad."  Then the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty yeras old, and have you seen Abraham?"  Jesus said to them, "Very truly, I tll you, before Abraham ws I am."  So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

Straighten The Bend In The Road

Straighten The Bend In The Road

Will it be: “Oh please, the world is falling apart around you and you can stand there and say you didn’t know!” Or: “It would be hard for anyone to want to believe the truth. But now that you see it is true, I believe you will do what’s right.”

At the point that we become aware of the truth, it is then that we must act on it. Straighten the bend in your own road and then help your neighbor to travel on a better path.

Inspired by John 7:25-30

Now some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Is not this the man whom they are trying to kill? And here he is, speaking openly, but they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Messiah? Yet we know where this man is from; but when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.” Then Jesus cried out as he was teaching in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I am from. I have not come on my own. But the one who sent me is true, and you do not know him. I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.” Then they tried to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.

Cast The First Compliment

Cast The First Compliment

Will it be: “Don’t talk to him, he said some cruel things about me.” Or: “I don’t hold it against him. We all have bad days. I have said unkind things that I regret.”

Rather than highlighting one’s faults, catch someone doing something right. Casting the first compliment rather than the first stone is love. Love is what you are made of!

Inspired by John 8:2-11

Early in the morning Jesus came again to the temple. All the people came to him and he sat down and began to teach them. The scribes the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery; and making her stand before all of them, they said to him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They said this to test him, so that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let anyone among you who is without sin, be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once again he bent down and wrote on the ground. When they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the elders; and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him, Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, sir.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not sin again.”
The Gift of Love

Will it be: “I know I have family and friends, but I feel so alone.” Or: When I take the focus off myself the gift of the love penetrates my heart and I smile again."

The gift of love is only a gift if it’s offered and accepted. Acknowledge God’s love for you and then share it. The world may not be in your corner today, but God is.

Inspired by John 8:28-30

Jesus said to the Jews, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak these things as the Father instructed me. And the one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what is pleasing to him.” As he was saying these things, many believed in him.

The Truth Will Set You Free

The Truth Will Set You Free

Will it be: “Face it, you’re screwed!” Or: “Don’t let the truth destroy you. There is something better waiting for you.”

God wants us to love and hope when disappointment is present, when all is status quo and when the world seems a-l-m-o-s-t perfect! Following in Jesus’ footsteps will take us through life and all the way to heaven!

Inspired by John 8:31-32.

Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

The Light Shines In You

The Light Shines In You

Will it be: “You used to be compassionate and thoughtful. What hardened you?” Or: “People like being around you. I can’t help but feel like that too.”

Being a burning and shining lamp in a dim world is appealing to our spirit and is the message to us from the life of Christ. Let the light shine in you to illuminate your little corner of the world.

Inspired by John 5:31-36

Jesus said to the Jews, “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. There is another who testifies on my behalf, and I know that his testimony to me is true. You send messengers to John, and he testified to the truth. Not that I accept such human testimony, but I say these things so that you may be saved. He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. But I have a testimony greater than John’s.”

Good Will Come

Good Will Come

“Will it be: “I trusted in you and you let me down”. Or: “God is gracious and merciful to all. Although I may not see it now, good will come from this too.”

God doesn’t use our circumstances to kill our spirit or bring disappointment into our lives. He uses our circumstances so that we may see His greatness!

Inspired by Psalm 145:8-9, 13-14

The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds. The Lord upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who area bowed down.

Now I Live Free

Now I Live Free

Will it be: “I want get over the pain of the past, but I can’t do it.” Or: “I prayed, ‘Lord, I want be healed from the past.’ Then one day I said it and believed that through God it could be. I now live free from all that held me hostage.”

Inspired by John 5:1-3, 5-9

After this there was a festival of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-zatha, which has five porticoes. In these lay man invalids –blind, lame, and paralyzed. One man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, Do you want to be made well?” The sick many answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way, someone else steps down ahead of me.” Jesus said to him, Stand up, take your mat and walk.” At once the man was made well, and he took up his mat and began to walk.

Great Spiritual Rewards

Great Spiritual Rewards

Will it be: “I can do no wrong. I’m on top of the world.” Or: “I am always grateful and humble about my success. As quickly as it comes it can be taken away.

To live humbly in attitude and deed is one of life’s greatest spiritual rewards. It is only then that favor and mercy of God is truly revealed and experienced. Lord help me to turn away from a self-righteous attitude so that I may enjoy the incredible gift of your mercy and love that you offer me each day.

Inspired by Luke 18:9-14

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and regarded others with contempt: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself was praying thus, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people; thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all my income.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.”

God's Miracles

God’s Miracles

Will it be: “Listen, I’ll bark, rant, and rave all I want. You people need to make this right!” Or: “There’s no need for me to blow up. I know this will pass. Trials always do. “

Every day between sun rises and sunsets are God’s miracles waiting for us to receive them. Lord, with a softened heart and attentive ears I will seek your goodness. The trials of the world have no chance of winning over your graces.

Inspired by Psalm 95:6-9

O come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. O that today you would listen to his voice! Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your ancestors tested me, and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.

You Never Give Up

You Never Give Up

Will it be: “Why should I forgive him again? He does the same thing over and over again.” Or: “God forgives me over and over again. I can surely find it in my heart to forgive him.”

Jesus taught us that forgiveness is inexhaustible. Thank you Lord for never giving up on me!

Inspired by Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.”

Do As I Do

Do As I Do

Will it be: “That’s my friend. Find one of your own.” Or: “Why would I mind you joining us. He’s your friend too.”

God loves and welcomes all in His midst. Lord you give me so much all the while caring for the rest of the world. I will live today doing as you do.

Inspired by Luke 4:24-30

And he said, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in the prophet’s hometown. But the truth is, there were many widows in Israel in the time of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a severe famine over all the land; yet Elijah was sent to none of them except to a widow at Zarephath in Sidon. There were also many lepers in Israel in the time of the profit Elisha, and none of them was cleaned except Naaman the Syrian.” When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with rage. They got up, drove him out of the town and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff. But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way.

With Love Lend Your Best Work

With Love Lend Your Best Work

What will it be: “What kind of work do I do? Well it’s not my dream job.” Or: “I happily work every day to bring love in to the world. Then I flip burgers to pay the bills.”

Seek favor with God first. Connect to Him so His love is heard from your mouth, seen in your attitude and observed in your posture toward life. With love lend your best work to one situation, one conversation and task at a time.

Inspired by Luke 1:26-33

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

Written Words of Love

Written words of love are incredible gifts. The pictures they paint tenderly touch our hearts and the feelings they convey impart wonderful connections that bond us.  We should all take time to leave a permanent record in this world of the love within and between us.

It's In The Genes!

It's in the genes!

“Ugggh, can you believe she’s wearing that. It must be hand me downs.” “She is so stuck up. She doesn’t talk to anyone. “I could do it if I wanted to. But I don’t want to.”

Our bodies, the way we cloth them, our faces and less than sunny dispositions are only what’s on the surface. Come on world! Get to their hearts. It’s in your genes! For God’s sake, you’re a part of Jesus’ family. Let it show, let it show, let it show!

Inspired by Matthew 11:16-19

Jesus spoke to the crowds, “But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking and they say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!” Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

For Good Measure Give More

For Good Measure Give More

What will it be: “Why would you expect anything, you didn’t help.” Or: “I gave because I wanted to. I never expected anything in return. This is amazing!”

Be merciful when angered, tolerant when pushed, and forgive when offended. For good measure, give more than anyone would ever expect. It’s God’s way and it is sooooo good!

Inspired by Luke 6:36-38

Jesus said to his disciples, “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.

We Know What To Do

We Know What To Do

Will it be: “I avoid making eye contact, that way I don’t have to help.” Or: “I thank God for the gift of mobility and I raise my able hand and say, “I am here, what can I do to help?”

Through many parables Jesus taught us that “helping, sharing, & caring” is love in God’s eyes. If we care to know God and live in His divine presence now or after this lifetime we know what to do.

Inspired by Luke 16:19-31

Jesus said to the Pharisees, “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man’s table; even the dogs would come and lick his sores. The poor man died and was carried away by the angels to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was being tormented, he looked up and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus by his side. He called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in agony in these flames.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in agony. Besides all this, between you and us a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who might want to pass from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.’ He said, ‘Then, father, I beg you to send him to my father’s house –for I have five brothers –that he may warn them, so that they will not also come into this place of torment,’ Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; they should listen to them.’ He said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Reward To Self

Reward To Self

Will it be: “Volunteering or not, I wouldn’t be caught dead doing a job like that.” Or: “I’d be glad to help you if you will just show me how.”

Jesus came to show us life isn’t about us. Life is about serving others. When you invest your time and focus on another its reward to self is priceless.

Inspired by Matthew 20:25-28

But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

An Eager Student

An Eager Student

Will it be: “You don’t have to teach me. I know all there is to know.” Or: “Thank you for the compliment. But I am just a student of life and always learning.”

Learn from the best! God is your teacher and he will give you the eager student all you need to grow.

Inspired by Matthew 23:1-12

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; therefore, do whatever they teach you and follow it; but do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of others; but they themselves are unwilling to lift a finger to move them. They do all their deeds to be seen by others; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long. They love to have the place of honor at banquets and the best sets in the synagogues, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, and to have people call them rabbi. But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all students. And call no one your father on earth, for you have on Father – the one in heaven. Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah. The greatest among you will be your servant. All who exalt themselves will be humbled and all who humble themselves will be exalted.
