You were born to be a leader! Who me? YES YOU!!!
Self examination will lead us to knowledge of ourselves. Take some time, go to a quiet place, look back over your day, and note what you become aware of about yourself.
If you think about it, we naturally have been an example by our actions in ordinary things and in what seems like ordinary ways. We all have many times guided someone by holding their hand through a crisis, or literally holding their hand perhaps to cross a street. We have given hugs, kissed tears away, and listened to a friend who needed someone to talk to.
Think about the things you already do. Then stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone. You might find yourself sharing an idea with your employer or co-worker that will help things work more smoothly and save the company time. Perhaps you’ll find a new and improved way to run your household. You can finally join the church choir or a committee to help the people in your parish. You could become an expert at cutting coupons and corners to save money and celebrate when your family begins to do the same. You might listen and offer suggestions as your mother or father express concerns about their future on their limited income.
To be a leader does not mean we need to head a billion dollar business or empire. We could be financially at the lowest point of our fiscal lives and be an outstanding leader. Don’t scrutinize every detail and every move you make. Take a general overview of your habits. Be hontest with yourself. Some habits you’ll find can use some revamping; while other habits are great ones and produce good fruit. You'll know when it's right because your heart will concur.
Be an encouraging example while you attend to your household, carpool, classroom, job, family and friends. The new changes you make will cause a definite positive reaction among family, friends, and peers. Your new way will cause quite a stir. You’ll get attention because your actions were honorable, praiseworthy, set a higher standard, out of the norm but definitely refreshing and sorely needed in this world of chaos. Enjoy the new found interest of others, encourage them to be doers and by example, teach others to remain humble, because the pat on the back and the reward for a job well done is an act worthy of imitation.
To be a leader it is not necessary to head a public office or social group. Common sense, confidence, and stepping outside of your protective walls will take you to wonderful places.
“Go first”, what the heck! Don't wait to be led! How can you go wrong with God on your side. He gave us an incredible mind, and it was designed to work in harmony with our hearts. Listen to your heart and witness great works and gifts being shared as love will prove it's best.
Go through your day touching people, helping circumstances, changing lives by your good example. God knows what you are capable of. He believes that you can show the way to others, it’s time for you to believe in you. “You are a leader”.
