At The Heart Of Life Is The Gift Of Giving Of Yourself

At The Heart Of Life Is The Gift Of Giving of Yourself “I quit my dream job! I can’t work with those people anymore.” “I don’t want to stay with him anymore. Yes, he’s been a good husband, provider and a wonderful father. He just gets on my nerves!” “I know I’ve got it all. But there’s something inside of me that does not feel complete.” Should we be satisfied where we are? Why would we discard the good in our lives because we are frustrated or in search of something we can’t put our finger on? If we have a full life with school, family, work, and church on Sundays, what more might we desire? There is much reward to be received when one takes one’s mind off one’s self. When our aspirations circle only around status, a material good or of a relationship that is perfect we will always be disappointed and hunger for more. Refocus your appetite and goals toward what will satisfy the spirit by imitating the way Jesus loved and lived. Give heartily and selflessly in your relationships so that you have no time to think about inanimate experiences and shortcomings of others that can breed selfish belittling ideals. Jesus said to the people, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.' There is always room for us to grow in intellect and opportunity to climb the ladder, but at the heart of life, is the gift of giving generously and humbly to relationships with loved ones and strangers seeking nothing in return. John 6:30-35 So they said to Jesus, 'What sign are you going to give us then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, "He gave them bread from heaven to eat." ' Then Jesus said to them, 'Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.' They said to him, 'Sir, give us this bread always.' Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.'
