BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE
Yesterday, I held you in my arms;
Perfect hands, your hair barely grown.
Even now, I worry about your needs;
And the mark you’ll leave in the world.
How much did I teach you, did I reach you;
Will you know what to do when it counts.
A kiss could fix it all, a smile can break down walls;
A kindness toward another could soften the hardest of hearts.
Show the greatest of mercies, live in the name of peace;
You know I have faith in these things, do them because you believe.
Now you’re grown, moving on your own;
Know I’m here, still in arms reach.
You’ll belong and your confidence is strong;
I know your eyes and feel sure inside.
I see Him in you, I did reach you;
You’ll know what to do when it counts.
A kiss could fix it all, a smile can break down walls;
A kindness toward another could soften the hardest of hearts.
Show the greatest of mercies, live in the name of peace;
I know you have faith in these things, and do them because you believe.
