Something to Remember Me By

Something to Remember Me By

The unknown and the abyss of a life lived on earth is an intriguing mystery that we unfold as it is experienced. We know much about yesterday from history books and tales told over centuries and to a degree history grants comforting ideals because our ancestors set many paths to follow. What does our future hold beyond this earthly sphere? How do we prepare for our future in a place that is beyond our imagination and comprehension? What will it take, what will we make of ourselves to prepare us for our divine place far from this life we know?

Photographs have captured moments we’ve experienced in our lifetime and those that preceded us. They’ve been used to preserve, educate and emulate times of the past. They can encapsulate a look, mood, attitude, feeling, an era, and a mindset. They provide something tangible and comforting that can be used to recapture an age, or refer back to when we’ve lost connection and require immediate recollection of an endearing person, place, thing or time in our lives.

We may not all be fortunate enough to have in our possession something physical to grab on to that would satisfy the needs of a content, blissful, happy, mourning, hungry, ailing or hurting human heart. We may be forced to dig in to the recesses of our minds and spirit, and sift through a multitude of memories and feelings, good, indifferent, and bad; and that is what we do, that is what we choose to carry us through life. How can we connect the past and present with our future?

A heart at its best is designed to impart unconditional love, experience a multitude of magnificent emotions, and be gratified by the compassion that it freely bequeaths upon others.
The vain heart seeks its reward in physical things and can selfishly pursue a form of a legacy to be left behind, and wants nothing less than to depart from this place we dwell in and be proud to boast and proclaim that it left, “something to remember it by.”

In our quest for self-worthiness we explore our prospects and dig our hooks into someone to imitate so that we may feel complete, validated, substantial, noticed and whole. It’s common to search the archives of the years of people of interest making the headlines, and relationships with our co-workers, family members, neighbors, and even characters from our favorite movies or television programs to make their claim to fame or mark in this world our own.

In exploration of our perceived personality or contribution to life, we look to the profound and sometimes poetic lyrics of a song to lift us to an elevated emotional playing field or perhaps the talent of an incredible athlete who has garnered multiple gold medals to push us to rise to our next physical level. We are enchanted by a magical dancer who can transport us to another place and time through a performance of elegant grace that poses a different view of our personal stage and platform. We may crave the taste and talent of an award winning and popular cook, cocinar (Spa.), cuoco (Ita.) or cuisinier (Fra.) who creates an aroma of delectable mouthwatering entrĂ©es and who elaborately manages to inspire us in our own kitchens, cocinas (spa.), cucinas (Ita.), and cuisine (Fra.) that mushroom and stretch us to expand beyond our mediocre recipes for life. We may envy a rainmaker whose success seems unattainable to the layman, and the profits reaped are deemed irrefutably beyond our reach, disappointing us before we are allowed to triumph and conquer the unthinkable. The look of an incredibly beautiful model or actress unconsciously, consistently, and assuredly dampens the human feminine spirit, and often destroys virtuous, blameless, moral and wholesome hearts. We may praise the inspirational attitude of a popular newscaster who’s delivery of sensitive topics touches our hearts consistently and may somehow innocently make us feel less capable of delivering similar perceptive recitations in our normal ever day lives. We are influenced by advertisements and cleaver catch phrases that drive, press, and perhaps empower us to “just do it” when we may very well prefer another choice of product. We may be swept away and entertained by watching many times over a movie that will temporarily transmit us into a fairytale relationship that awakens our hearts to a desirous longing for warmth, love, connection, simplicity, and sensitivity that is lacked in our off screen relationships. Our consciousness is mistakenly disengaged by fantasy that leads us to believe that simple truths of matters of the heart are only real in the realm of entertainment and not available for us in our own personal relationships and therefore our existence is lived out in a distorted misguided dissimilar way.

Our fleeting journey through this life is the bridge that arranges and houses the links of our past and present parts, elements and pieces of our hope, faith, beliefs, deeds, acts, and thoughts, and will ultimately connect us to our divine definitive impending heavenly future and imminent destination.

It’s time to strip away the fake facades that we hide behind and those we use to mask our undeveloped selves. Educate yourself with God’s powerful words and be unafraid of the ripples in the water for you will be going against the tide. Be rid of the ingenious handicap of yesterday, for it is no longer your compensation for strokes taken for past performances will no longer give you an edge. But rather, joyfully and expectantly rely on newly acquired holy skills, awe-inspiring morals and values and each new divine opportunity put before you affords you the open green, the new fresh horizon, to drive through, chip away, and putt and connect each hole so that at the end of your passage your new bridge is made of resilient fabric of life that is outstanding and pleasing to God, who wants to welcome you into his kingdom and who would be pleased to say to all who revere Him, this is My child, who has done My will.

Jesus Christ laid a simple and outstanding foundation for you. Take hold of this precious moment in time to change your course, direction and attitude. Cash in on this gift of opportunity to begin to build on that which was laid out for you complete and lacking nothing essential.

One day, unbeknownst to you, you will be called to the front to stand before God, and He will open the precious Book of Life. Be confident that you have built your foundation of gold, silver, and precious stones and not wood, hay and straw, for your works must withstand the fire, because they will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it. The people whose lives you have touched, helped, comforted, and prayed for will attest to your good deeds and heart, and their prayers will be heard by God. When the church of the earth that you touched and the church of the heavens unite in equivalent affirmations because you lived for the love of God, then you’ll know and could proclaim with the most humbled of hearts, “I left you something to remember me by.”

Inspired by Ephesians 4:25-32

Rules for the New Life.

Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not leave room for the devil. The thief must no longer steal, but rather labor, doing honest work with his [own] hands, so that he may have something to share with one in need. No foul language should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were sealed for the day of redemption. All bitterness, fury, anger, shouting, and reviling must be removed from you, along with all malice. “And be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.
