My Labor Day!

God Labored for six days and rested on the seventh. He created a beautiful world and made humankind in his image. Not only did he give us life, but He gave us gifts of talents unique to each of us. Spend time today, and each day, discovering and developing your special gift to share with others. Today, cast off your old self, and allow this new day to reveal the real essence of you. Take pride in who you are, and in what you have been blessed with. Get up and off the couch, and plant your feet firmly on the ground, and move toward a place where you can lead a life with purpose. Enjoy this special Labor Day for it is a day, just like everyday, when we can celebrate God’s special creation, you!

(inspired by sermon of Msgr. James J. Loughnane - St. Denis Church, Diamond Bar, CA - Thank you!)

Prayer for My Labor Day

Lord, bless the labor of my hands
To do work that will please you.
Unlock my reserved heart
So that free giving will follow.

Open my deaf ears to hear You
And speak surely of our salvation.
I ask for sharpened acute senses
To work in unison for Your glory.

You give me an able body
With special talents to share.
Help me to recognize my gifts
So that none will be wasted.

Lord lift me and carry me
Over the threshold of Your love.
Where I will learn to serve
Your church of this world.

I pray for intuitive wisdom
And a model giving heart.
Lord give success to the work of my hands
So I will grow in love and service to others.

Amen
