WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT YOURSELF?
WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT YOURSELF?
Who are you? What do you say about yourself?
John, The Baptist, was asked who he was. John had a great gift from God. Although he was doing good things for the people, he did not take credit for being greater than any other. Nor did He compare himself to Christ who was to come. To the contrary, John spoke freely and highly of Jesus saying, “I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal.”
In all that we do, we must use wisely and generously the gifts God granted us. As we move forward in our strides and are challenged by conflicts we should remain humble and faithful as we gain ground or suffer defeat. Through our impasses and peaceful moments we will benefit most by remaining inspired, peaceful and hopeful. As we celebrate our accomplishments or mourn over our losses remaining filled hope and love will speak volumes about who we are.
Mere words will not accurately describe ones’ self nor depict one’s spirit. Your consistent humble and virtuous actions, just and moral attitudes and growth in love and faith will say much about you. What do you say about yourself? I do what I can to use the gifts God gave me and I thank God for the gift of His Son that sets my path straight.
John 1:19-28
This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" He confessed and did not deny it, but confessed, "I am not the Messiah." And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the prophet?" He answered, "No." Then they said to him, "Who are you? Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" He said, "I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,'" as the prophet Isaiah said. Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. They asked him, "Why then are you baptizing if you are neither the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?" John answered them, "I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal." This took place in Bethany across the Jordan where John was baptizing.
