Checking In With Your Soul

Checking In With Your Soul “Have I taught you nothing? What were you thinking?” “I don’t care if he’s handicapped! He didn’t play by the rules! I’m the real winner!” “Those people don’t deserve part of this bonus! They just cleaned up the place!” Sometimes, to a fault, we believe we are passing down our best values and adhering to rules designed to keep order. When matters have touched our competitive nature, we miss wonderful opportunities to use the gift of great works of the heart. Many say what worked for our grandparents doesn’t seem to work in today’s society. We are quite wrong. What a gift we possess, that what God teaches never changes. If we couldn’t stand before God and do what we are about to do, we must go back and rework our value system. Even if we are ignorant of God’s word, the truth is in his spirit living in our soul. Our soul will never yank at our hair, shove us, or pull the carpet from under our feet. On no, our soul is as gentle as a nudge, quiet as a night in the desert, and as loving as a mother to her newborn. Before you open your mouth, make a decision, and walk out your front door, be sure you check in with your soul, the holy spirit, living inside you. Mark 12:18-27 Some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and asked him a question, saying, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that 'if a man's brother dies, leaving a wife but no child, the man shall marry the widow and raise up children for his brother.' There were seven brothers; the first married and, when he died, left no children; and the second married her and died, leaving no children; and the third likewise; none of the seven left children. Last of all the woman herself died. In the resurrection whose wife will she be? For the seven had married her." Jesus said to them, "Is not this the reason you are wrong, that you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God? For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the story about the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is God not of the dead, but of the living; you are quite wrong."
