They Can’t Take That Away From You

They Can’t Take That Away From You In a world of busyness we may be distracted by tasks that keep us from reaping the rewards of daily heavenly graces. Take time to watch what others are doing. When you see someone who is not hurried or pressured ask yourself, "why?" When another is taking time to talk to people take a break from your busyness and start a conversation of your own. When you hear of someone spending time with the needy, lonely, orphans or widows know that there is always a person who needs you too. The Lord knows the burdens of the many tasks we place on ourselves daily. He also knows how rewarding your life will be if you come to Him without distraction. The world may place its chokehold on our lives, but it cannot touch our spirit that belongs to God. Chose the better part, that which cannot be taken away from you. Luke 10:38-42 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me." But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her."

Thanks for this reminder. I sometimes feel as though I wasted my day if I have always been engaged in doing something. I am a professional church musician, and there are many administrative tasks in my job that need constant attention. I admit that I sometimes feel guilty if I am not always actively doing something, but I get more out of just enjoying God's presence in prayer and meditating on the Word.
